The Man Behind the Lens
I was born in Singapore in 1954, moving to Columbo, Ceylon (Now Sri Lanka) for nearly three years, then moving to the UK in the late 1950’s…..when growing up near Hitchin I have always had an affliction with nature, and travel. I left home and school when I was 15 years old to travel the world with the Royal Navy, after 9 years I moved on running Coverack Youth Hostel for 12 years and also running Coverack windsurfing Centre.
My passion for travel started at a very young age and has stayed with me until the present day. During my time in the forces I qualified as a Unit Expedition Leader, allowing me access to expedition equipment and taking unto 12 person’s on various expeditions.
For the pass 30 plus years I have been very fortunate travel to many exceptional places, especially to jungles around the world and live with the indigenous tribes. (Amazon Jungle in Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and jungles in Panama, Costa Rica, Sumatra, Java, Borneo etc. The local tribal people taught me how respect and coexist with the Forna and Flora, never taking more than a person needs to survive and to especially look after the jungle environment.
It was during these various expeditions I took up photography, I am self taught and continue to keep learning this amazing medium…we never stop learning and its a privilege to share my photographs. I hope you like some of them !!! Robin

Gear & Ethics
camera Technical Setup
I rely on high-resolution mirrorless systems and telephoto lenses that allow me to maintain a respectful distance from my subjects. My gear is chosen for its durability in extreme environments, from salty Cornish gales to sub-zero arctic winds.
nature Conservation First
Ethics are the foundation of my work. I follow a strict "no-trace" policy, never baiting animals or disrupting their natural behaviors for a shot. The welfare of the animal always precedes the importance of the photograph.
